1300 years ago Japan was far more international then we often think. When the ancient Korean kingdoms of Paekche and Goguryeo collapsed in 660 and 668, many people escaped to Wa(Japan).
In addition in 716, 1799 people from Goguryeo who had originally immigrated to the eastern provinces were moved to Musashi-no Kuni county establishing the Koma-gun County.
This exhibition inquires into the shape of the roots established by continental immigrants to Japan through a focus on: Koma-no-Jyakko and the establishment of Koma-jinja Shrine and its treasures; the structure of Koma-gun County; and an overview of the history of Koma-jinja Shrine.
