We have English explanation part in this exhibition.
The Imperial Institute for the Study of the Classics (Kōten Kōkyūsho), the predecessor to Kokugakuin University, was established in 1882. Today, the official notice presented by its first director Prince Arisugawa Takahito at the opening ceremony still forms the basis for university’s philosophy.
With the university having been connected to the Arisugawa-no-miya family since this time, it holds items related to them and the Prince Takamatsu-no-miya family. They were kindly given to the university by Princess Takamatsu (Kikuko), who had carried on Arisugawa-no-miya family rites.
This exhibition will both introduce the connections between Kokugakuin University and these two cadet branches of the imperial family, as well as exhibit items newfounded last year. Visitors are invited to enjoy sophisticated works of high artistic value of Imperial family.
