In Heisei 28 (2016), flame style pottery of the kaen type from the middle Jomon era (2500-1500 BCE) was declared as an example of Japan Heritage by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as a result of the efforts of the application “Nan da, kore wa! Flame Style Pottery Kaen type and Snow Country Culture in the Shinano River basin” submitted by the Shinanogawa Kaen Kaido Coordination Council.* This special exhibition commemorates this designation and introduces the actual and multifaceted reality of Jomon era pottery. In addition to flame style pots, clay figures and stone rods from the same era will also be presented.
