 國學院の校名に冠する「国学」とは、日本の伝統文化に関する諸現象・事物の成り立ちとその本質の解明を目指した学問であり、古典籍や古器古物などの「モノ」を通じて、日本人の「心」を究明する総合的な日本文化学である。ここでは、國學院およびその設立母体である皇典講究所関連の資料や、本学所蔵の資料・コレクションを通して、本学における伝統文化研究・教育の実態を明らかにし、「モノ」と「心」に関する本学の歴史と学問の展開を追う。
